Accident and Breakdown
- What if my vehicle breaks down?

On the unfortunate occasion that a vehicle hired from Hampsons Self Drive Hire has
a fault or breaks down please call our breakdown and recovery on 01636 653 302.
This number is 24 Hours.
- What if I am involved in an accident?
-
If you are involved in an accident you must take details of the third party including;
- Vehicle Make
- Vehicle Model
- Vehicle Registration
- Contact Name
- Contact Address
- Contact Telephone number
- Date and Time of accident
- Contact details for any witnesses of the accident
Upon returning the vehicle to the rental depot you should request a claim form from
our rental operators. Either leave this form at our rental depot or post to;

Driver Information
- What are the UK driving licence requirements?
- You are required to bring
your full UK driving licence including the Counter Paper part of your licence.
To drive on Hampsons' insurance you must be between the ages of 23 and 70. Certain
larger vehicles require you to be between the ages of 25 and 70.
You must have no more that 6 points on your licence in the last 5 years for minor
offences.
- What if I don't have a UK driving licence?

Hampsons Self Drive Hire Ltd accepts all EU driving licences. If you are outside
the EU you will require an International Driving Permit along with your driving
licence.
- What charges are there for an additional driver?
-
If you require an additional driver this will incur a fee of £5.00 per day per additional
driver.
If you require any additional drivers this can be requested when collecting your
rental vehicle. Please ensure you also produce a full driving licence and ID for
any additional drivers.
Payment Methods
- How can I pay for the rental cost?

Payment for the rental must be paid before taking possession of the rental vehicle. We accept cash,
debit or credit cards. Please note that we cannot accept cheques for payment.
- What Deposit must be obtained?
-
We will accept debit or credit cards, however we cannot accept cash nor cheque
for any deposit payment.
Identification
- What identification must be shown on collecting a vehicle?
-
You are required to bring your Full Driving Licence (including Counter Paper Part).
You must also produce a second piece of ID to prove current living address, this
could be a bank statement, utility bill etc.
Fuel Details
- Are the rental vehicles supplied full of fuel?
-
When renting a vehicle from Hampsons Self Drive Hire we supply vehicles on a
"full to full" basis. We supply our vehicles full of fuel and anticipate them to
be returned full of fuel.
- What if I return a vehicle with less fuel than the amount indicated on collecting
the vehicle?

On the occasion where the hirer cannot return the vehicle full of fuel Hampsons
Self Drive Hire will re-fuel the vehicles at a cost
of £1.65 + VAT per litre. This will be deducted from the deposit value.
Traffic Violations
- What if I commit a traffic violation in a vehicle rented from Hampsons Self Drive
Hire?

Should you commit a traffic violation we will pass your details onto the issuing
authority with supporting evidence of the rental agreement (an agreement signed
by the hirer and Hampsons Self Drive Hire upon commencing the rental) the issuing
authority will then contact you direct. We may also pay for the fine direct depending
on the issuing authority and time scales given and recharge the value to the hirer.
If any traffic violation is caused Hampsons Self Drive Hire will issue an administration
charge to the hirer.

Our rental depots are open from 8:00am through to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. 08:00am
through to 12:00pm Saturdays. All our depots are closed on Sundays.

If you intend to use a vehicle hired from Hampsons Self Drive Hire please note that
restrictions apply, and prices quoted on this website are subject to hire vehicles
staying within the UK. Please contact your local rental depot for further details
on European use.

Collection and Returning Vehicles
- Collecting and Returning Rental Vehicles

Vehicles can only be collected and returned during our opening hours.
Our rental depots are open from 8:00am through to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. 08:00am
through to 12:00pm Saturdays. All our depots are closed on Sundays.
Booking Information
- How will I know my booking has been confirmed?

We will send you an e-mail confirming all your booking details.
- Can I extend my rental period?

You can extend the period of your rental by contacting your local rental depot.

- How can I cancel my booking after confirmation?

To cancel a booking made online please either contact the relevant rental depot
with your booking ID number. For our rental depots contact details please
click here.
Alternatively you can cancel your booking by e-mailing
sales@hampsonsgroup.co.uk confirming you wish to cancel your booking and
your booking order ID number.
- Will there be a cancellation fee?

There may be a charge on cancellation on specialist vehicles in peak periods (e.g.
minibus during summer months). This cancellation fee will vary dependant on the
period of cancellation notice given.

To amend a booking made online please either contact the relevant rental depot with

and your booking order ID number.
